Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. In addition to his role in the drama show telecast globally under the name The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other internationally popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a leading role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the Russian president in the American TV show House of Cards. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English as well as mastering different accents. According to Mikkelsen's story the actor was taught English from his brother listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
